MARAIS (5) is a nine-start maiden who was prominent throughout last time and stuck on well to finish second over 1300m at Canberra. Will find this tougher but he should run well. MONTE VEEBEE (6) is back after a break of six months. At the last run before the layoff he finished fifth over 1400m at Rosehill. Tuned up with a fifth in a recent trial at Rosehill. Nicely placed and expected to go well. FLEETING SPIRIT (9) is racing well and is close to a win, the latest effort a solid second at this track over 1400m after being prominent from the outset. Drawn for a nice run just off the speed. Must raise the bar but another big run is on the cards. MISSION GOLD (2) was in contention on the turn and finished second last time over 1200m at Kembla Grange, beaten 2.5 lengths. Meeting a deeper field this time but he has the ability to mix it with them.
