ASTORIA BROOKE (9) is a talented filly who tackled a tougher race at her last run on December 26 and finished sixth behind Hitabell over 1600m in the G2 Ladies' Mile (Eight Carat Classic) at Ellerslie. Drawn to enjoy a nice trail just off the pace. Sure to be in the finish. TORUK MAKTO (1) returns from a layoff of five-and-a-half months. Worth noting he filled a minor placing when returning from a spell last prep over 1200m at Ruakaka. Yet to win first up but generally runs well with two minor placings from three tries. Rates highly and should take some beating. CHINOOK (5) got off the mark over 1400m at Te Aroha last start, scoring by half a length. Harder this time but still one to consider. SHE'S ALL THAT (10) registered her first win last start over 1400m at Te Aroha, getting home by 1.75 lengths. Sparingly raced and has more to offer. Harder task ahead this time but can measure up.
